Can I just say about the smart car, I live in harold hill, on a path, with a driveway to my house, I recently came out of hospital after a hysterectamy. A friend of mine came round to give me a life to my hospital appointment. She parked on the drop down Krub section that comes to my house this is about 15 foot long, If she had parked on my drive I would not have been able to get into her car, as my car was on the drive and having just had the op needed room to get into the car. She came into my house we were two mins. in that time the smart car had driven bye took the picture and she received a fine. She did write a letter of complaint but was told she was blocking the public highway. Didnt matter I found it hard to walk and could not make it down to the nearest road.
Juju - Harold Hill
I run a company that has been based in Romford for more than 30 years. We have a fleet of 10 small delivery vans that deliver car parts to the motor trade. My drivers stop at garages for no longer than 3-4 minutes whilst they obtain a signature for the goods they are delivering. More often than not they cannot park in the garage so they have to park on the road outside. I receive approx 1 ticket every week from 'THE BUG.' I have appealed against all these tickets and the response that I get from the council is that beacuase I am parked with 2 wheels on the kerb, then I have no right of appeal. If on the other hand I was to park with all 4 wheeks on the road ( therefore totally blocking the road ) I could successfully appeal because I could have 15 mins 'delivery time.' I can see where they are coming from, but if 'THE BUG' is operating to keep the boroughs roads clear then this is nonsense. I have now told all my drivers to park on the road, but I feel that not only is this putting there own safety at risk, but also all the other road users. It is also going to hold up the traffic, when there really is no need. Something has to be done as these extra costs to all our business's is getting out of hand. p.s. I know for a fact that a lot of my staff now don't go to the sandwich/pizza shops in Victoria Road for their lunch anymore due to a fear of getting a ticket, so that is more business' that are suffering.
